We’ve been getting our share of shout-outs here on Japanistic lately. And we’re pretty proud of this latest one. Cool Mom Picks has chosen our Artemis Pencil Cases as one of their ”Coolest Special Little Extras” in their 2010 Back to School Shopping Guide.
Here’s what they had to say about Japanistic:
“When I was in Japan a few years ago, I tried desperately to pack my suitcase full with as much adorableness as possible. But lucky for me (and you), I don’t have to endure the super long plane ride to stock up on imported Japanese goodies thanks to new find Japanistic…
It’s just like perusing those tiny Japanese boutiques, except without the wicked exchange rate. And the jet lag.”

It’s no secret that we love Hapa Bento. Consistently a source of great ideas, we also love how fantastic Debra makes our bento boxes look. This time is no exception. Take a peek at our Mio boxes, filled with goodies I now desperately want for lunch!

Want your own set of Mio? Debra said it all better than I could so here’s our fun surprise!
“I saved the best for last. Our friends at Japanistic have put together a special set to kick off our “back-to-school” series! It’s the adorable “Mio” set including both the bento boxes featured in today’s lunch plus the matching beverage bottle! How cool is that?!
You can purchase this “hapa bento set” at a discounted back-to-school price of $42.25 versus the $46.95 if you bought each piece separately. To take advantage of this special event and get the details, visit japanistic.com and they’ll take it from there. This set is available while supplies last.
If you’ve been wanting to try making bentos, for your kids, yourself or spouse, now is a good time as any to start. At a discount!” (via)

Japanistic and our Elph’s Bento Box got a wonderful shout-out on Hapa Bento yesterday, complete with terrific photography and a lunch I am now craving, even though it’s still early morning.
Here’s just a bit of what she had to say about our Bento: ”very colorful and cute, perfect for a child’s meal or a snack box!…But besides the stylish cover art, another super feature of this bento is that it has a bit of ‘head room’ so when I close the box…the lid doesn’t smash the contents. Love. It.” (via)

My only problem now is worrying that my son will see this, and recognize that my own lunches are severely sub-par!
Japanistic gets crafty, and gets recognized by leading family magazine, Family Fun. They loved our Choki Ori craft kits as much as we do. Easy to use, fun for a rainy day, and available in Prehistoric, Farm Animal, Artic, and African Friends. Easier than origami, and maybe even cuter?

The Korea Times has an article on one of my favorite Japanese artists, Tadanori Yokoo. Apparently, Yokoo and Kawashima (also awesome):
are currently holding separate exhibitions in Seoul this month, offering a rare opportunity to examine the country’s pop art by artists from distinctly different generations.
