How much can I picture my son in these? And the orange? Love! Shoes from Joy Full.
No sure? There’s always these colorful hi-tops.

Not so much your style? Okay, I also love these sweet Spring Mary Janes, especially the green.

My son always says it’s not fair that adults get to make all the decisions. I don’t think it’s fair that kids get to wear all the cute stuff!
Since the events in Japan began over a month ago, I know that at least in my house, there’s been ongoing discussion about the tragedy, how to help, what we can do, and the pain of what people in Japan are going through. Kids are sensitive little beings, and just like us, they need a place to voice what they are feeling. For that reason, I love the simplicity of this Japan Society Education Program Facebook page, Kids4Japan.
This page is designed for children and teens to share their thoughts and encouragement through words and art with children in Japan affected by the Tohoku earthquake of March 11, 2011 and its aftermath. Japan Society Education Programs will make sure that the students and schools of the region can see this site. Educators can also use this site with their classes. Parents can photograph and upload their children’s messages and artwork here.
What a great forum for kids to share the ways they are helping and what they are feeling.
How come we can’t find things like this here in the U.S.? I mean, yes, I suppose I could buy some felt and make all of these pieces myself, but what I really want is this tidy kit from Belle Maison, just ready for me to put it all together.
Hi Turtle! How cute are you?!?
An octopus for #8? I love you Mr. Octopus!
I guess we have to keep working on the creativity here and until then, just drool over offerings like this one. Thank goodness I don’t have a baby to make a book for right now! Phew!

It’s no secret that many Japanese are fans of Miffy. But then again, aren’t we all??
Now, Dick Bruna has reached out to the people of Japan to show with a simple, yet moving, illustration.
Dick Bruna, the creator of the Miffy rabbit children’s book character that has many fans in Japan, has drawn a special illustration especially to comfort children who have been frightened by the March 11 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear power plant accidents.
In the image, Miffy the child-rabbit weeps two big teardrops.
The Netherlands-based author, illustrator and graphic designer sent a copy of the illustration, which he signed in pencil, in an e-mail message to The Asahi Shimbun on March 26.
Bruna said he purposely created the image in black and white. His handwritten message reads, “My best wishes to Japan, Dick Bruna.”
The simple illustration shows the illustrator’s feeling of deep sadness and kindness. (via)
In addition, a special Bruna illustration adorns the poster for the SOS Japan Benefit Concert in Amsterdam.

Oh Miffy, and Mr. Bruna, we love you so. Thank you.

In my ongoing hypocrisy, if this were an American superhero baby outfit, I’d probably think it endlessly tacky. Because it’s cutely Japanese, however, I feel completely the opposite, and wouldn’t mess with any baby sporting one of these outfits! What baby doesn’t need an ascot? (via)

It was distressing to me when Boo Foo Woo essentially left the American market, or at least, made it infinitely more complicated to carry their lines. I loved selling their clothes and miss them dearly. At least, however, I can still admire them from afar, right?

Here’s my feeling about Boo Foo Woo. If we can’t pull this stuff off when we are kids, we’ve missed our shot. So why not have our kids enjoy this slightly crazy, colorful, and amazingly fantastical clothing?
Here’s some favorites from their Spring/Summer 2011 Collections. Adorable!

Want me to continue to carry these goodies? I’ll do my best. In the meantime, enjoy the photo fun.

Always good to start young, right? Of course, I know plenty of adults who would swoon for this Miffy Baby Book.

Okay, slippers, or “floor shoes.”
From Minimynimo. There’s not much more I need to say, except ADORABLE.

Okay, I know the shoes are cute enough on their own, but these polka dot baby buntings are too much not to mention.

Stephan Royer gets major props from me for the creativity and ability to make, that’s right, a Totoro Bed! No pattern, just some free-hand sewing. And some amazing nap time, for sure. (via)
