More New Products at Japanistic!

It was a busy weekend at my house. My son’s birthday celebration, a snowstorm, and plenty of time spent loading New Products at Japanistic.

Fantastic new Teak Cutlery and Serving Vessels. Made from the bits left behind during the logging process so no new trees are cut to make these lovely items.

A new favorite for me. The Semi-Carousel Drying Rack. I saw countless numbers of these in Japan, and they are the perfect solution for drying your smaller items. Foldable for easy storage, and yes, with cute colors.

For an infusion of general cuteness, a Rilakkuma Clip Set.

For the kidlets, a Silicone Travel Fork and Spoon Set.

And for the grown-ups, brightly colored My Cutlery Sets.

More newness at the site, and more to come because, you know, we like to keep things interesting.

Bento Goodness you should buy for the people you love, or maybe just for yourself.

These Japanese Sea Sponges are the softest ever. Trust me.

I love a sexy mustache, and my sweet Antonio.

Of all the sexy Antonios in the world, here’s the one that makes me swoon.

When I look at our new Antonio Sunglasses Stand, it’s like he’s sending a special message, meant just for me.

“Hey Baby. I like the way you move…But how can you dance in those dark shades? Why don’t you come on over here and let me hold them for you?

“I got you, baby. You don’t need to worry ’bout a thing. Just settle those pretty little frames right here on me, above my man-hair. Tom Sellack? He got nothin’ on me.”

“You and Me, baby. It’s all about You and Me. And your glasses.”

Thelonious, Helen, and Eric – Your new best friends from Gigo Blocks

I admit that when I look at these, I talk to them in silly voices. Something about these Gigo Blocks Cube Figures just brings that out in me.

And yes, I make up stories about them too. Helen, who you see above, peers at you from the corner of her eyes, never wanting to be the center of attention but always on the cutting edge. And perhaps just a little bit shy?

Helen is one of 6 new friends from our newest Neighbor at Japanistic, Taiwan. Assemble your friend and hang him from your bag, put him on your desk, or just tuck him or her in your pocket. And if you talk to it in a silly voice? That’s okay too.

Eric, the bear, has sleepy eyes that make it look like he’s just woken from hibernation, and now, he’s ready to play.

Thelonious has dashing orange horns and strong blue arms. He may look slightly menacing, but we’re convinced he’s just looking for a good hug.

Tony is casual, in a simple cap, and looks surprised by whatever he’s just seen. All the same, he’s more than ready for whatever adventure you have in store.

Paul, our daredevil, is wearing a fetching helmet and has a green button nose. Still, we can’t quite figure out why he looks so sleepy.

Rudolph sports a cool green cap and triangle nose. Don’t underestimate him just because his mustache and eyebrows are a distinguished gray!

The best part of these guys? All parts are interchangeable so you can create your own character. And, they come with stickers so you can personalize once you’ve built your friend!

When you make your own creation, email us a photo and your story and we will share it here.

The Macaroon Headphone Cord Holder – My Favorite New Invention.

I was very, very busy yesterday. New products galore! But today, it’s all about my headphone mess and the bundle of cords I am always dealing with.

My absolute favorite and a totally genius invention – the Macaroon Headphone Cord Holder. Wind your headphone cords around the Macaroon, then suction cup it to the back of your device so they stay together. So simple and so smart-and why didn’t I think of it first?

Comes in Pink, Green, White, and Black. And I would like to keep one of each please.

Now in the New Products Section at Japanistic.

Japanistic wants you to Clean Up Your Act! (with our kitchen cleaning supplies.)

As you might remember from my Japan trip updates last year, many of the companies I met while on  my trip specialized in cleaning products of all sorts. At long last, we have those available for you at Japanistic.

A personal favorite? The Bowtie Dustpan and Brush, available in three colors. The perfect size to keep at your desk, at the ready for some tidying when you need it.

The kitchen sponge is an important item in Japan, and we’ve got plenty of them.

If you have any knowledge about Japanese sponges, you know that Melamine makes for a miracle sponge. My current favorite? This Fruits Melamine Orange Sponge separates into 6 parts so you can use it as you need it without ruining the rest of the sponge. And you will want to use these ALL the time because they are MIRACULOUS for removing stains, and problem spots of all kinds.

Another current favorite is this Monkey Kitchen Sponge.

These little monkeys are adorable, and slightly coarse on the outside so they are super effective. In addition, they can clip to your faucet to dry! And look cute in your kitchen!

Cleaning is always more fun when there is cuteness involved, don’t you think?

Another love is this set of Pink Bear Cleaning Cloths. The set of two is reusable, and large enough to help you clean wherever in your kitchen needs a helping hand.

And yes, I must admit that part of what I love is the instructional illustration on the package. Look how happy they are to be helping you clean!

Of course, it’s not just the actual kitchen that needs cleaning. You need the proper tools to clean your food too! Try our Frog Scrubbie, Potato Brush, Vegetable Scrub Brushes, or Fish-shaped Kitchen brushes.

Potato Brush special feature? Yup – an easy way to remove the eyes and spots.

As always, there are some goodies I haven’t even gotten to load yet. Be on the lookout this weekend for fruit-shaped sponges that are bite-worthy.

Misawa Atsuhiko Animal Cards, now at Japanistic!

This morning, I am sitting at home, listening to French Rap on an iTunes radio station and loading product. (I know, I know. French Rap? But seriously–give it a chance.)

I am so excited about these cards that I had to stop and tell you about them.

Last time we had these incredible Atsuhiko Misawa cards in stock at the store, they sold out so quickly, I didn’t have a chance to put them online. This time, we ordered extra so you can have them too!

Japanese artist Misawa is well-known for his collection of “wooden life-sized sculptures of animals, which are lively and humorous.” (via)

Although famous for his sculptures, Misawa works in a number of other mediums as well.

Now, you can have your own collection of his artwork with these Cards at Japanistic. Thicker than card stock, they would mail well, of course. I see them, however, with a hole punched in them and a lovely piece of ribbon strung through to hang them on my wall.

I love this cat with two differently colored eyes.

How would you hang your newest gallery pieces?

Fun with your Food, with Bento tools to help you.

In our house, the lunch making falls to my husband. Needless to say, these new tools will come in handy when he runs out of ideas.

Make your own California rolls, spicy tuna, or whatever yummy combination you fancy, with the new  Oshi Sushi Mold.

Rice molds to help you make cute characters. Nothing more really needs to be said, does it? Bear, Boy & Girl Rice Mold Set.

Dog is taking a vacation, but how will he get there? Never fear. He’s got a train, car, or boat to choose from. And any of these molds will make your sandwich offerings that much cuter. Try this Dog Sandwich Mold set.

Cute rice cubes you can decorate as you wish. Because aren’t square heads cute? Mini Cube Rice Mold.

My son hates when he can’t fit ice cubes into his water bottle for school. Problem solved with this Stick Ice Tray.

Or perhaps you’d prefer teeny tiny itsy bitsy cubes? Try this Itsy Bitsy Ice Cube Tray.

More fun kitchen goodies coming soon! In the meantime, visit our Kitchen Section at Japanistic.
