An adorable child and animals in silly hats. Do you need anything more?

Everything about this is so, so, so right. For your dog, for your kid. Either way, you can’t go wrong. I love this dog and I love this  kid and I love them both wearing these Hats from Cherish.

My dog, the Martian. And, my baby, the martian.

You can also choose fruits and veggies.

FYI- my son and I are spending much time cracking up over these and saying “awwwww. sooooooo cute.” Seriously. This post has made us incredibly happy. Ridiculously, gleefully happy.

BUNNIES!

A WATERMELON hat!

Is your dog a Carrot Top?

I don’t even know what animal this is supposed to be – but it doesn’t matter at all!

May I also say that this dog and this child are AMAZINGLY cooperative? I don’t think either of mine would stand for this. And, it would be impossible for this child to be cuter.

If Cats get their day, Dogs should too, and they should be able to wear a Kimono!

浴衣

You knew if they existed for cats, there had to be, oh yes, Kimonos for Dogs!

Doesn’t every dog want to wear a bit of lace? Maybe tulle instead?

I think these are, ahem, a slightly classier option.

Of course, if a Kimono is not really your dog’s style, don’t fret. There’s still a traditional option for you.

This Dragon-riding dog might be the toughest dang canine ever!

Finally, it might be against all good taste to show this, but yes, Lolita for dogs.

Is this one like a dog corset?

I have barely scratched the surface here. Want to see Jean Overalls for Dogs? Yup. Those too.

I could fall down an incredible rabbit hole here. Who could pass up this lacy number?

サロペット

And wouldn’t your sweetie look divine in this Romantic Flower?

I know I need to stop since these animals have been humiliated enough already. But I may, in fact, need to purchase one of these, because my dog in a polka dot raincoat would be MAGIC.

レインコート

My dog is hanging her head in humiliation solidarity with these poor creatures. But dressing our pets up in ridiculous outfits is so much fun!!

To show you I am not above doing this to my own pets, I end with these photos of Clover the Wonder Dog in her superhero outfit, courtesy of my son, and Earl the Guinea Pig Samurai.

Do you think they make Jean overalls for Guinea Pigs? If not, a Japanistic business spin-off could be in the works…

Kitties in Kimonos

Every once in a while, I happen upon something that just makes me happy. Today is one of those days. Kimonos for cats, an essential item you never knew you needed.

Strangely, these cats don’t always look so happy. Huh. Imagine that.

My important question, however, is can I get one for my dog??

Buy this Umbrella Gripper and Save Japan? (or maybe an air freshener?)

Not sure about this latest product to help Japan. (Tohoku, by the way, is the region impacted by the earthquake and tsunami.)

東北地方太平洋沖地震支援プロジェクト CHEER UP JAPAN エアーフレッシュナー サン OA-JPA-1-3

I appreciate the intent here, but for some reason, “cheer up” seems along the same lines as “buck up little camper!” A bit too casual for my taste. Am I overreacting?

Another thought. An Air Freshener to Cheer Japan up? Seems like a bad joke in the making.

Also, what the heck is an umbrella gripper? My umbrella seems to work just fine without extra grippiness.

What kind of Beanstalk grows from Pokebeans?

Poke Beans

I’ve made no secret of my son’s love for Pocket Monsters, and admittedly, my won inability to understand their appeal. What the heck is actually doing with all of those cards he collects?

Perhaps similarly perplexed, photographer David Schwen created these Pokeimages. Now these Pokemon? These I could get behind.

Poke Banana

Poke Beer

Bento dog food?

I don’t know what Bento Kronen is, and I’m only posting it because it has the word Bento, but it’s worth it. (via)

Russian Bento raises, or way, way, WAY lowers the art form.

There is certainly a kind of artistry in this Russian Bento. (via)

Maybe I shouldn’t say I am laughing, but I have to admit to busting a gut looking at these. And I also admit, were I to finally try my hand at Bento art, mine would probably look something like these.

The fish head and tail make this country maiden just exceptional.

Don't they know that raisins look like....

Medusa, the Bento Queen!

What could this possibly be? Can you guess? A meat ship? "On the good ship, meat and bacon..."

This reminds me of one of those tree creatures from Lord of the Rings.

I visited Russia 25 years ago, and never need to eat Dill again! Plus, this one actually says "For My Father." Wrong!!

Not bad, relative to some of the others, right?

These just seem rude.

Sadness, personified.

This chicken has been violated.

"For my husband on St. Valentine's Day." Um, what? A male anatomy component with teeth? Or, is this an alien that has burst from her stomach?

The message here? Watch out bento artists. There is a fierce throw-down coming your way. Bento Cakewrecks, here we come.

Cell Phone charms, for your blog

This is almost too kawaii for me. Customizable cell phone charms, to decorate your blog. (In reality, some version of this probably exists here in the U.S., but I imagine it involves a ribbon and fundraising for a particular cause.)

At Blog Charm, you can create your own. And then, well, it’s obvious.

That’s right. Just like that doo-dad that hangs from your phone, except on the screen of your blog.

And you can do it in just a few easy steps.

I made this one in a jiffy.

Choose from any number of straps, mini charms, and main charms.

I am sorry if this will disappoint, but I will not be adorning this blog with charms anytime soon. Unless you ask me really nicely. Or, if they have a hedgehog.

Cute little old people you can have as a snack

One of my favorite sights in Japan. Near the restaurant supply area in Osaka, I happened upon a food vendor selling these adorable baked treats. Look how perfect the faces are, wrinkles and all! And each one was no more than a few inches tall.

From what I could understand, they’re sort of like a cream puff. I imagine they might be based on famous faces, but none that I recognize. Does anybody have any ideas of who these might be?
