From Snow-Design, the delightful cardboard clocks.
1. It is a handmade clock of the corrugated cardboard.
2.The surface performs silk printing.
3. Clock movement use made in Japan

Crafty on the outside, simple Japanese clockworks on the inside.

If you’re not in need of a new timepiece, there are cards too. (Can you call a clock a timepiece or is that only for watches?)

And I know it’s a little late for a calendar, but…

Another bit of wonderful from the Belle Maison Monthly subscription plan. This towel series has my name all over it.
And yes – the peanut towel just gets me.

Is that a ghost on the yellow towel? A ghost who loves candy?

Smiling fruits and veggies, a monkey at Le Tour Eiffel, and cheerful critters jumping for joy. Don’t we all need something like this at least once a month?

This may seem like a completely mundane post for this time of year, but the New Year makes me want new things. And one of these bags from Semi would do nicely.
Billboards into Bags.

Totes, phone cases and laptop cases too.

Yes, I know I already got some lovely Christmas presents. But maybe a little gift for myself?

I saw a link to this on the Japan Pulse blog and I am so in want right now. So much better than a Snuggie, the Humanoid Sleeping Bag!

Taking the mummy bag to entirely new levels of amazing, from Doppelganger Sports.

And yes, this bag has some incredible features. Need to walk? No worries. Just zip up your legs.

Clearly it’s great for just lounging around.

Need to get your work on? No problem.

A handy pocket for your reading materials.

Unzip to use your hands.

Easy to clean, I guess. Rinse and wear?

One thing that might make it even better? A butt flap, like in a union suit. Because really, do you want to take the whole thing off to go to the bathroom? If you are already wearing a full-body sleeping bag, let the laziness reign supreme!

Watch love.
Nabe Hand Craft Watch Products features the work of Watanabe Kou Bou. I can’t tell you much more about them so suffice to say, they are unique, and not inexpensive. But, that’s to be expected for hand-crafted timepiece, don’t you think?

Once I stumbled down the watch rabbit hole, I discovered that there are any number of watch artisans in Japan.
I’m also loving the watches from GaTa. Hand Made in Yokohama.

The yellow is gorgeous!

I love the hand tooled nature of these.

And yes, there are more. There are women in the watch making world too. Check out these watches from Mari Goto.

Just can’t resist the impulse toward that old joke. What time is it? Time for ME to get a new watch.

Most people know of my deep love for all things ocean. Today’s obsessions is these tiny glassworks, by Design Festa exhibitor 6*Umi, who must be as ocean-oriented as me.

Maybe have the sea in a bottle would satisfy my mid-winter water cravings, at least for a moment.

My obsession with vintage books continues. Down the rabbit hole I go and into the “stacks” at Modern Classic. Books, magazines, cookbooks and more from a “Classic but Modern Bookstore.”
I love this Okusama series of cooking magazine images from the 1960s.

Vintage Japanese craft books? Yes, please.

Cookbooks with cute characters? Yup.

And vintage fashion? Oh Yeah Baby!

Don’t we all need a suit like that one?

Picture books too. This one feels reminiscent of one of my favorites, The Lonely Doll.

I am not sure what to make of these guys. But I like ‘em.

Trust me when I say that these books are worth some time spent on the internets. In fact, I am having to pull myself away because I want to look at EVERY SINGLE ONE.
If you find a personal favorite, let me know. I’d love to see it!

Delicate ceramics from artist Hitomi Nakagawa. Some available at Iichi. And I am really in need of that Gray Cross Dish! (hint hint to anyone in my family who might be reading this.)
My house is full of crazy colors and yet, I am so drawn the simplicity of some Japanese ceramics in a way I don’t quite understand. These do the trick for me completely.

I love her photo too. Doesn’t it make you want to buy something from her? (Like perhaps a gray cross bowl you give me for Christmas?)

When I was young, my mother used to watch this crazy yoga show on our local PBS station. The woman hosting wore a brown leotard, brown tights, and did her decidedly low-impact yoga moves in front of a giant sun that hung on the wall behind her.
My mother wore a leotard too, and that time in our living room was her “me” time, I think. Sometimes, I’d join her, resplendent in my ballet leotard and pink tights. No, this isn’t a story about how a yoga girl was initiated and I don’t think I’ve done yoga more than once or twice since then. Instead, it’s a story of how awesome these women are in this Japanese “Joy of Marriage” Medical Phonocards set.

Are they doing yoga? No, not exactly. but they remind me so much of my lovely mother, doing her moves in our tiny living room, in front of our barely color television.

What are these? According to A Japanese Book, it’s “A fantastic set of large ‘medical’ cards that depict gymnastic exercise for modern 1960s Japanese wives! Superb flashy color printing. The verso of the cards and the booklet entail general sexual education for marriage (…) & various additional information (including the detail of sterilisation surgery for men and women…). A great psychedelic treat.“

Wow. So I guess sometimes “Yoga” isn’t just yoga? Okay Ladies-I guess that means if you want to have a happy marriage, it’s time to get your exercise on!

Today, I’m drawn to these Proof of Guild key chains and mugs.
