I have spent way too much time today obsessing over these gorgeous new lamps from designers Tatsuo Yamamoto and Jun Hashimoto, a result of their research on traditional Japanese lanterns. (via)
To me, these lamps embody a big part of what Japanistic is all about–contemporary design rooted in a long historical tradition and then tweaked. The only place to see them right now is at Milan Design Week, but here’s to hoping they become available for the general public, or at least just me.
