Not just a tasty treat, rice makes for some fancy artwork. And no, I’m not talking about your name written on a grain of it. (Another fun find from Designboom.)

Whole fields, planted with rice of varying colors, create these images.
“Annually, the rice fields of the aamori perfecture town of inakadate, japan are coveredwith large scale characters as part of the japanese rice paddy festival. art submissions from all over japan are accepted. then farmers strategically plant different types of rice grains to achieve different hues, which results in various artistic images on the farmland.”

Boy, and I thought our local Corn Maze was cool!
