I am loving the idea of train travel in Japan, if it means I will get to try some of the cool bentos featured in this book. According the Judy’s Bento Box, the book illustrates the different bentos associated with various Japanese train stations.
Here’s what Judy has to say: “It’s written in Japanese, so my guess is that each bento entry is associated with a train station and has a list of contents. Notice the little picture underneath the big picture. I think that is the entire package as it is when purchased.”
Makes me want to take a bento train tour of Japan. My only issue? I need more pictures to tempt me!

I have a while to wait as this book isn’t coming out until February, but for now, I can enjoy the cuteness. Ami Ami Dogs is the latest from Mitsuki Hoshi, crafter extraordinaire.

Harper-Collins promises it as the first in a series of 4, and I hope that’s true because her collection of works in Japanese is highly covetable. Just a bit easier for those of us who, ahem, aren’t readers of Japanese. Still, her Japanese books look wonderful. (Thanks to Japan Lovely Crafts for the images.) Perhaps if we all buy the first book in English, they will decide to translate the rest…

Thanks to Superpunch for the heads-up on this upcoming Robot-filled event in Philadelphia.
August 6th, from 6-9, The Autumn Society, (which sounds like an organization for Secret Agents), hosts the tribute to Japanese Pop Culture. The exhibit will be held at Brave New World Comics, a Philadelphia comic institution and I’d think it was worth the trip if I could buy one of these adorable posters there!
