I showed her the vast array and then she said “Yeah, but don’t you have any that are more, um, Orient?”

Ok, that is hilarious in a truly frustrating way! I’m always surprised by the preconceived ideas have about what is “Asian.”
Don’t even get me started about the anglo family-a mom who came in with her daughter, looking for an outfit for the daughter’s birthday party and liked the Tea Collection clothing we sell. She settled on a kimono-style dress, announcing to my husband, “It’s just perfect for her birthday party. We’re having a theme party. The theme is Asian.” All the guests were asked to dress up according to the theme. What?? OH MY GOODNESS!!
